Solid Edge Next Generation Design Webinar

Optimize Shapes to Achieve Design Goals

Next Generation Design incorporates a range of methods to assist with optimizing and virtually validating design models before the physical product is made. Next Generation Design methods include convergent modeling, 3D printing, and generative design.

Convergent Modeling

Solid Edge seamlessly combines traditional “b-rep” solid models with triangular mesh models without time-consuming and error-prone conversions. Convergent Modeling allows for traditional b-rep operations on digitally scanned 3D data and models born out of generative design, reducing rework while supporting modern additive manufacturing processes for complex shapes.

3D Printing

Generative design combines powerful design tools with topology optimization, allowing you to quickly create light, highly customized complex shapes, uniquely suited for 3D printing.

Generative Design

Generative design in Solid Edge integrates advanced topology optimization within the Solid Edge 3D modeling toolkit, helping designers to create lighter components, minimize material waste in downstream manufacturing. Generative design produces an organic, reduced-mass geometric solution of a specific material optimized within a defined space, accounting for permissible loads and constraints.

These highly customized designs are well-suited for casting or high-resolution 3D printing, or they can be modified for traditional manufacturing. Generative design in Solid Edge is unique in that it results in “ready-to-print” surface quality.
