In the quest for productivity, many companies recognise the value of upgrading their shop floor operations to integrate machine tools with CAD/CAM software. However, the question for many of the small and medium companies who make up a huge percentage of this sector is how to ensure that they make the most sensible decisions.
For some, this means finding the right post processors and best machine tools to go with existing design software; for others it’s about selecting the most appropriate CAD/CAM software and NC programming to suit machinery that’s already in use.
Recognising the demand for clear guidance, OnePLM and XYZ Machine Tools have created a partnership to provide cost effective solutions, expertise and education to each other’s customers.
XYZ Machine Tools has supplied UK engineering companies with more than 25,000 machines since it was established in 1984. With its headquarters in Devon and five regional showrooms, XYZ keeps 350 CNC machines in stock and ships over 90 units every month. Each one of those is tested for a minimum of 168 hours to ensure quality and consistency.
“Customers often ask us which CAD/CAD machine package to use and now we are in a better position to assist,” explains Mike Corbett, Applications Manager, at XYZ Machine Tools Ltd. “We know that OnePLM’s post-processors work with our machines and through this agreement OnePLM is creating specific demonstrations that we can share with our customers. This means we can show exactly how to generate and execute a programme, monitor performance and run business reports. Combining this with our already proven training and support means that we can get new users quickly up to speed.”
Likewise, when OnePLM’s CAD/CAE/CAM customers are seeking advice about selecting a new machine, XYZ can advise on the best fit. “The future is all about digitalisation and automation,” says Mark Parry, Managing Director at OnePLM. “Our job is to assist customers to streamline processes and move towards Industry 4.0. This agreement enables us to do that more effectively and enable our customers to meet their business objectives.”
With over 10 years experience of Siemens Industry Software, OnePLM’s team of technical specialists can assist with any aspect of design through to manufacturing.
